River’s Edge School of Music

Virtual Music Lessons

After a tumultuous spring 2020 semester, we are thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the River’s Edge School of Music 2020-2021. We are pleased to be expanding the program and adapting to our new reality.

For the foreseeable future, all RESOM lessons will be held virtually via Zoom, which is free to our parents and instructors. Although we know virtual lessons have their challenges, we were so impressed with the flexibility of our students and instructors in the spring to adapt to this technology, and we are confident we can continue to provide meaningful music instruction while keeping our community safe.

Here’s what you need to know!

Virtual learning has given us the opportunity to expand our lessons to all ages! We are now accepting adult students for all instruments, in addition to our usual school-age program.

This year, to maximize flexibility for all of our participants, we are trying a new approach to the RESOM schedule. While in past years we have stuck with a 14-lesson semester that often bled into January, this year we will begin lessons for each student as soon as possible, and complete the fall semester on December 18. Each family will be billed for the number of lessons their student is expected to complete depending on their start date, and we’ll all be able to start fresh in January with a synchronized spring start date.

As in past years, we will charge a $25 registration fee per student. This is an annual fee and covers the fall and spring semesters if your student chooses to continue for the full year. This fee is not subject to any membership discounts and is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

After you register via our online form, RESOM will be in touch with you via email to find a lesson time. Once your lesson time is set, we will confirm your total tuition and send you a custom invoice for your family.

We know that flexibility in these uncertain times is paramount. To that end, we are offering three payment plans this year, so that families may choose to pay by the year, semester, or month. All tuition payments will be based on an assumption of a base rate of $30 per 30 minute lesson. Monthly payments will be calculated by dividing the number of lessons the student will complete in the semester by the number of months in the semester. For example, if your student was completing 12 lessons in the fall semester, beginning in October, and you chose to pay monthly, your monthly payment would be $120 (12 lessons x $30 per lesson, divided by 3 months, October/November/December). Monthly payments will be billed on the first of each month and must be paid before the student attends any lessons for that month.

Membership Discounts

As in prior years, we are offering a 12.5% discount to River’s Edge Arts Alliance members. This discount is applied to the student’s tuition and does not apply to the $25 registration fee. Become a member or renew your membership to take advantage of this discount and help support RESOM and all of our programming!
