Oscar Wilde’s comic classic “The Importance of Being Earnest ” will be performed onstage April 16-18 at historic Hudson Town Hall, 78 Main Street. Performances on Friday and Saturday are at 7:30 pm; Sunday’s matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.
The River’s Edge Players is pleased to have a very funny, talented cast in place. Playing the eccentric roles which help make this story of double lives so very funny are:
Ted Frumkin of Westborough is playing John Worthington. Bill Bravo of Bolton is portraying his partner in crime, his double Algernon Montcrieff. Emily Snyder of Marlborough is Lady Bracknell. Jillian Davis, also of Marlborough, is playing the Honorable Gwendolyn Fairfax, while Jennifer Jermantowicz of Acton is portraying Cecily Cardew. The flaky Miss Prism role has been awarded to Nicole Hatlevig, a River’s Edge Players veteran from Stow. The Reverend Canon Chasuble, D.D. is played by Steve D’Alessandro of Marlborough. Merriman, the stoic manservant, is being portrayed ably by Julian Willard of Marlborough. Joseph Scarpato, Jr., also of Marlborough, has been selected to play the butler Lane.
The light-hearted satire takes place in England during the 1890’s. Rapid-fire cleverness is aplenty in this comedy of double lives and Victorian upper class.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students. Save $1 per ticket by purchasing in advance. Call 978-562-1646. Hudson Town Hall is wheelchair-accessible. There is ample free parking. To learn more, visit: www.upwitharts.org or e-mail: arts_alliance@upwitharts.org.
Mistaken identities, secret engagements and lovers’ entanglements all make for an especially enjoyable and witty production, directed by Sarah Worrest.
