Rivers Edge FILMharmonic Orchestra
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, February 20 at 7pm for anyone who may be interested in helping to start this new musical group! The meeting will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Hudson. Rehearsal days and times have not been established yet.
If you cannot make it to the meeting, but you are interested in helping to make this new group happen, please send an e-mail to the REAA BOD President at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please read below for more information on our vision for this group.
- Community Based
- No auditions
- Open to anyone who plays an orchestral or wind band instrument and can read music.
- Weekly rehearsals
- Two concerts per year plus occasional ‘guest spots’
- Plays music that has appeared in films and music written especially for films.
REFO should be community based, and as such, open to all players. The players who will get the most out of it will be those who are reasonably proficient on their instrument and read music well. Especially welcome are people returning to playing after perhaps playing in college or at school, and who would like to rekindle their music interests. This is an orchestra where people can play as a family (assuming age limits are met) and among friends with a similar passion for music making.
Anyone unsure if it is for them should come to the meeting and discuss.
REFO will draw from the vast array of music that has appeared in film, either as direct film scores or as borrowed from other works. It could range from Beethoven to Beyonce, or Rachmaninoff to Rocky… the range is endless.
Open to any orchestral or wind band instrument. No auditions necessary, however it is not really designed to be an orchestra for a beginner. The music will likely be of intermediate standard initially. Weekly rehearsals over two extended terms. Sep to Jan, Mar to June culminating in two concerts. Other appearances as guests could be arranged occasionally.
REFO will try to be an orchestra for the enjoyment of music by players and audiences alike. Great music, varied programs, fun rehearsals and a bringing together of the local music loving community.
Our goal is to debut the new group at the Artist Appreciation Concert on Wednesday, June 13!
